About
Tandoori Nights - Gaithersburg is a gem nestled in the heart of Gaithersburg, Maryland, at 106 Market Street. This vibrant Indian restaurant brings the rich flavors of traditional Indian cuisine to life, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts and casual diners alike.
As soon as you step inside Tandoori Nights, you're greeted by an inviting ambiance that perfectly complements the aromas wafting from the kitchen. The warm decor and attentive service create an atmosphere that enhances your dining experience, ensuring that every meal feels special.
The menu is a culinary tapestry, showcasing a variety of dishes that highlight the skillful use of spices and fresh ingredients. From the moment I perused the options, I was captivated by the tantalizing descriptions. The Lamb Biryani, priced at $24.99, is a standout—dense basmati rice infused with saffron, nuts, and raisins, providing a rich, savory backdrop to tender pieces of lamb. Equally, the Chicken Biryani ($22.99) and Vegetable Biryani ($19.99) are crafted with the same care, promising delightful surprises in each bite.
For those seeking delights from the tandoor, Tandoori Nights offers the exquisite Tandoori Fish ($27.99), marinated and baked to perfection in a traditional clay oven. The Paneer Tikka ($19.99)—well-marinated cottage cheese grilled to smokiness—is a vegetarian favorite that should not be overlooked. Meanwhile, the Boti Kabob ($25.99) features tender lamb, marinated and grilled to juicy perfection. There's a dish for every palate here.
The appetizers are equally delightful. My personal favorite, the Samosa Chaat ($13.99), combines crunchy samosas with chickpea curry and cooling yogurt that brings together creamy and crunchy textures. Another dish that caught my attention was the Kurkure Hariyali ($10.99), crispy spinach leaves that dance on your palate with the tangy tamarind chutney.
Customer reviews echo my enthusiasm. E Schelz raves about the service and the Chicken Saag, expressing a desire to return. Brooke T. enjoyed the Tandoori Chicken and mentioned the generous portions. Suman Shrestha and Patrick Cahalane, too, highlighted the affordability, flavor, and accommodating service, with Patrick noting the impressive quality that rivals establishments across the Atlantic. Statia Betman, who used to frequent their Bethesda location, now makes the drive to Gaithersburg, simply for the outstanding flavors and perfect lamb chops.
Tandoori Nights - Gaithersburg not only serves food; it offers a flavorful journey that keeps patrons coming back for more. Whether you're a fan of Indian cuisine or a newcomer willing to explore its depths, you're sure to find a dish that resonates with your taste buds. Don't miss this culinary haven; your palate will thank you.

“ Our party had a wonderful dining experience at Tandoori Nights. The food was delicious and plentiful and the service was attentive. The Chicken Saag was so yummy I wanted to lick the plate clean. The ambience made the experience that much better. We look forward to returning soon. PS - I don’t understand some of the critical reviews. I’ve eaten at Indian restaurants all over the world and Tandoori Nights is a solid choice. ”
“ So delicious, I kept saying over and over “this is so good”. It felt good for the soul. I got the tandoori chicken with some bell pepper and garlic naan. It came with a heaping serving of rice too! The servings were huge so plenty of leftovers. So delicious and as someone that can’t handle spice, they filled my water plenty ”
“ Everything is really good. I ordered 2 butter chicken, 1 chicken curry,1 tandoori chicken. Every item was really good and everyone in the restaurant are very friendly and helpful. The prices are also really affordable. I would recommend everyone to go and visit this place. ”
“ Fantastic food and atmosphere. Some of the best Indian food I’ve had the side of the Atlantic. They graciously accommodated some of my dietary needs. Wonderful service! We will be back. FYI - that’s steam rising from my dish! ”
“ We used to go to the Bethesda location before it closed. Since then we’ve been driving 30ish minutes each way to Gaithersburg for the food. The food always, ALWAYS, has perfect flavor. I recommend the lamb chops. ”
“ I have tried at this restaurant couple of times and everytime, I had a good experience with food and service. The restaurant also has a good decor and ambiance. Last time, we ordered few items and mostly everything was good. The chicken Tikka masala was average and wasn't creamy enough. However, other dishes were really delicious. We go here often for dine in or pick up and I definitely recommend this restaurant for good Indian food. ”
“ The food was good. Wide variety of vegetarian dishes and good service. ”
“ Excellent service, generous and tasty portions. Just FYI tandori grilled veggies are quite spicy Clean environment and wonderful music. Own thing that I wonder is if the red coloring they use is safe, it would be great if they had an option of the same tasty tandoori just without the red pigment ”
